The Official Band of San Francisco Has a New Name

The San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band is now the San Francisco Pride Band. We are updating our name to emphasize that we welcome all members of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies across the spectrum of sexual orientation and gender identity, and to make our support for our trans and nonbinary members clear – this matters now more than ever, as politicians across the U.S. push transphobic agendas. Band Announces Roger Zare as First Recipient for Its BIPOC Commission Initiative

The Band is proud to announce the selection of composer Roger Zare as the recipient of the inaugural SF Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color) Commission Program! Zare’s composition, Awakening, is set to debut in May 2023 and was selected following a nationwide request for proposal process. Read More

2021 In Review

January 23, 2022
2021 was a roller coaster of a year. We put on two virtual concerts in the first half of the year and were later able to perform at numerous in-person events that represented many firsts for us and our community.
