The Dance–Along Nutcracker® has been a San Francisco institution since 1985, and so many Bay Area families have made it a family tradition to celebrate the holiday season with Clara, Fritz, and the entire San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band. The show is a labor of love for everyone involved, from our Band musicians to all of the actors, writers, choreographers, prop makers, costume designers, technical team, and volunteers who help make the show sparkle each December.
The Band recently made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Dance–Along Nutcracker. We had hoped to be able to present an all-new Dance–Along Nutcracker this December, but our family-friendly audience-participatory show clashed with the ongoing realities of the Covid-19 pandemic.
After a difficult two years, we had hoped to be able to ring in the holidays with our amazing audience. Instead we will look towards December 2022 for the triumphant return of the Dance–Along Nutcracker as the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band carefully starts to return to in-person performances.
Just this past September, the Band presented its first in-person concert in over 20 months outdoors at the Golden Gate Park Music Concourse. On December 11th, the Band will present our first indoor concert since the beginning of the pandemic, Winter Postcards, featuring stunning winter holiday compositions from around the world.
