San Francisco, CA — May 17, 2026 — The San Francisco Pride Band proudly unveiled a new logo at its Spotlight on Broadway fundraiser, marking a bold new chapter for the organization as it prepares for the 2026 Pride season.
The new design emerged from an extensive collaborative process guided by the Band’s Rebranding Task Force and brand identity designer Rachel Frankel. The final logo honors the rich history of the SF Pride Band while embracing the vibrant and evolving future of the organization.
This unveiling follows the Band’s 2024 name change from the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band to the San Francisco Pride Band — a decision reached after nearly a year of careful discussion and reflection. While the organization has evolved over the decades, its mission has remained constant: increasing visibility for the LGBTQ+ community through music, performance, and community connection.
The new name and logo reflect the Band’s commitment to inclusivity across the full spectrum of sexual orientation and gender identity, with an emphasis on affirming trans and nonbinary members and communities at a time when visibility and support are more important than ever.

At the center of the new logo is the beloved heart-note symbol, a feature many members wanted to preserve. In the updated design, the flag within the musical note becomes a literal flag — a tribute to the Band’s longstanding role in carrying the banner for LGBTQ+ rights and visibility since its first parade appearance in 1978.
Encircling the symbol is a vibrant rainbow gradient ring that incorporates pink and light blue tones, further reflecting the diversity and inclusivity of today’s queer community.
“This milestone marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Band’s visual identity,” said the Rebranding Task Force in a joint statement. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed ideas, feedback, and support throughout this process. This logo honors our legacy while capturing the energy, pride, and inclusivity that we aim to better embody with every note we play.”
The SF Pride Band will be sharing more updates as the new logo comes to life across the organization and excitement builds toward the Band’s landmark 50th anniversary celebration in 2028.
