Join the San Francisco/Lesbian Gay Freedom Band on Saturday, March 11 at 3pm for Mystic Visions, the next in the Band’s award-winning series of community concerts. This concert will be conducted by Artistic Director Pete Nowlen and held at a new-to-the-band, beautiful musical venue at Burton High School in San Francisco’s Portola neighborhood.
From Sousa’s exotic Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, to Holst’s Somerset Rhapsody, evoking the region of Arthur and Gweneviere, to Hovhaness’ mesmerizing Three Journeys to a Holy Mountain, the program will explore the blurred line between the historical and mystical. With pieces blending mysterious harmonies and colors of the past with the sounds of the modern concert band, the program is sure to inspire!
Additional pieces include Salfelder’s Cathedrals, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Selections from Encanto, as well as William Grant Still’s Land of Superstition from The Africa Suite.
