I played euphonium throughout middle and high school, but dropped it during college and had been looking for an excuse to start playing again. A year after I moved to San Francisco, a couple of my friends joined the band and started talking it up to me. I watched them perform in the Dance-Along Nutcracker and I was immediately obsessed with the band’s spirit and sense of fun, and joined shortly after.
I love that being in the band makes me feel like a part of San Francisco’s continuing LGBT history. I’ve been able to meet so many great, talented people through the band, and always look forward to performing. I especially enjoy the performances that the audience gets to participate in, like the Dance-Along Nutcracker and our singalong Spotlight on Broadway concerts.
